A felony arrest warrant for aggravated assault has been issued for Devon A. Hightower of Darby Township in connection with a roadway assault that occurred in Nether Providence Township earlier this month.
On May 5, 2025, Officer Andrew Yates responded to a report of an altercation at the intersection of Chester Road and Medbury Lane.
Upon arrival, Officer Yates encountered a man who was bleeding from the back of his head. The victim explained that he had been involved in a vehicle accident in a different jurisdiction, after which the driver of the other vehicle aggressively followed him into Nether Providence Township.
The two men exited their vehicles and began to argue. The victim stated that the other driver retrieved a scissors tire jack from the trunk of his vehicle, approached him, and struck him in the back of the head with it. Afterward, the assailant returned to his vehicle and left the scene.
The victim was treated at a local trauma hospital for a severe laceration to the back of his head, which required six stitches to close.
An investigation by the Nether Providence Township Detective Division led to the identification of the assailant and his vehicle. On May 6, 2025, the victim positively identified Hightower as the assailant from a lineup of departmental photographs.
Anyone with information about Hightower’s whereabouts is urged to call 911.
