The men and women of the Nether Providence Township Police Department are shocked and saddened to hear of and see the tragedy that unfolded yesterday in Uvalde, Texas. We extend our deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims and to those who are impacted in the community.
We want you to know that our officers conduct daily visits to the schools each day, walking the halls and checking in on the daily events. We believe this is an important task to not only promote community interactions, but to hopefully give students, staff and teachers an extra feeling of safety knowing we know the layout of the schools, who is who and that we are there for them in any time of need.
Nether Providence Township Police Department has safety and major incident plans in place at each of our schools and school district buildings. We work closely with the Wallingford Swarthmore School District trying to prevent violence, helping the school community feel safe and encouraging good relations with the police department to ensure a positive and safe experience at school everyday.
But today, we hurt, we mourn, we hug our family and think why does this happen.
Tonight, beds will be empty. Lunchboxes will be useless.
Sneakers will lay in the hallway untouched, homes will never be the same. Pray for the broken hearts of these moms & dads. Pray for sisters or brothers who won't understand.
Pray for Uvalde.
