The Nether Providence Police Department regrets to announce the passing of retired Officer George Rigby,  yesterday afternoon.
Officer Rigby dedicated more than three decades of honorable service to the Nether Providence Township Police Department and to the community he proudly served. His career is a reflection of professionalism, integrity, and a true commitment to public safety.
 
Officer Rigby started his career in February of 1969 as a patrolman.  In April of 1984, he was moved to the Detective Division until returning into the patrol division in 1998.  In March 2004, Officer Rigby retired from the Nether Providence Township Police Department, earning respect and recognition from all.  He was a calming presence, especially to the young officers.

George will be remembered as a respected officer, a loyal colleague, and a friend to many within our department and community.  We keep George’s family and loved ones in our thoughts during this difficult time.

George, we thank you for your service, your friendship and your dedication throughout your career.  You will be sorely missed.
