Police Chief David Splain welcomed Officer Jordan Culbreath to the ranks of the Nether Providence Police Department.
With his mother, Audrey, holding the Bible, Culbreath, 32, was sworn in by Magisterial District Judge Elizabeth Gallard at the regular monthly Board of Commissioners meeting Thursday evening.
A graduate of West Catholic High School, Wesley College, where he earned a degree in political science, and the Philadelphia Police Academy, Culbreath began his career in law enforcement with the Philadelphia Police Department, serving four years before joining the West Whiteland Police Department in Chester County last year.
“I am excited to have Jordan join us. I think he will be an outstanding officer and an asset to the Nether Providence Police Department,” Chief Splain said.
Joining Culbreath’s mother in the audience was one of his siblings, Jessica Thomas, friends from Philly PD, fellow Omega Psi Phi fraternity brothers, and members of the NPPD.
“I grew up in Delco. It’s cool to come back to where I was born in raised,” said Culbreath, who hails from Yeadon.
For Culbreath, law enforcement is more than a job.
“I feel like it’s a calling,” he said just hours before the swearing-in ceremony.
