The Nether Providence Police Department is proud to announce the launch of a nonlethal, de-escalation device called the BolaWrap.  The BolaWrap is a unique device that can detain a person, without harm, who is a threat to themselves, officers, or the community.  

Across our country, we have seen a demand for law enforcement agencies to expand the use of force de-escalation techniques.  We believe that requires every agency, including our own, to evaluate its practices and find room for growth.  

We are proud to answer that call by implementing the BolaWrap.  On any given day, officers encounter people experiencing a mental health crisis, under the influence of drugs, or non-compliant to create a dangerous environment.  The BolaWrap will allow officers to temporarily detain an individual if deemed necessary while working to deescalate the situation.
