Thursday, October 27th Update TO SHOOTING INCIDENT:
As a follow-up to last night’s release regarding the shots fired in the 400 block of Leiper Street in the South Media section of the Township. This afternoon Detectives served a search warrant on the vehicle that was seized last night and recovered what is believed to be the handgun used in the incident. The offender has been identified, and the Detectives are working with the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office to obtain an arrest warrant for that subject. Once the subject has been charged, his name and photograph will be released. We want to thank those individuals who provided information to the police to assist in this investigation.
Wednesday, October 26th at 8:15 pm, the police department responded to the area of the 400 block of Leiper Street in the South Media section of the Township for a report of shots fired. Upon arriving, officers who were close to the scene observed a vehicle fleeing the area at a high rate of speed. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle which fled for several blocks before crashing. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene on foot and the remaining occupant was taken into custody. Police searched the area for the driver but were unable to locate him. A search of the original scene in the 400 block of Leiper Street revealed evidence that a gun had been fired several times. At this time police did not locate anyone who was injured or any property damage that had occurred. The incident is being investigated by the Nether Providence Police Department’s Detective Division.
