The Nether Providence Police are currently investigating an incident in which vandals left two circular burn marks, each the size of a trash can lid, at center field of the newly turfed Gouley Park. This damage, discovered on Saturday morning, has raised concerns among both police and government leaders.
Nether Providence Police Chief David Splain said Monday that, based on the park’s usage, the vandalism likely occurred sometime after Tuesday, August 5. “As part of our investigation, we are currently reviewing camera footage from the area,” Chief Splain stated. “We are also asking anyone with information to contact the police department.”
Located at 101 Plush Mill Road, the park recently underwent significant renovations, including the installation of a multi-use turf field, and is designed to serve as a recreational space for families and community members. Efforts are currently underway to restore the affected area.
