On 11/08/2022, at about 2339 hours, officers of the Nether Providence Police were dispatched to the 700 block of Forrest Street for a 911 call, 71 year old male yelling for help.

Officers arrived and made contact with the caller/victim who had visible injuries.  The victim, who resides with the defendant, stated he was in his room when the defendant, David Martin, entered the room with a knife and stated he was "going to die".

Martin then began assaulting the victim, hitting him in the face and head with a closed fist. The victim stated he was able to fend off Martin at some point and called 911.  Martin fled on foot. 

The victim had a large abrasion on the left side of his cheek, swelling and abrasions on his left eye area as well as a small cut below his right eye. There was also visible small and bleeding cuts/abrasions to the left forearm of the victim.

It is believed that the victim was not injured by the knife that the defendant held. Officers later located Martin on foot, several blocks away from the scene of the assault.

He was taken into custody without incident and lodged at Media PD awaiting arraignment.
