Chief David Splain announced the arrest of a Wallingford woman in connection with a domestic-related stabbing early Thursday.
Kerry Irene Kelly, 36, of the 300 block of Moore Road, was preliminarily arraigned on charges including felony aggravated assault, as well as simple assault and possessing an instrument of crime, both misdemeanor offenses. Her bail was set at 10 percent of $50,000.
It was shortly after 2:30 a.m. when Officer Robert Brake responded to the Moore Road residence for a stabbing victim. The officer was met outside by a man who was holding his left arm and had a fresh stab wound above his elbow.
The injured man said he was sleeping on the living room couch when Kelly awakened him, screaming. He said Kelly had a black steak or bread knife and stabbed his left arm, after which he fled the house and called 911.
Kelly, who was sitting on the living room floor when police arrived, told Detective Sgt. Michael Erickson, "I stabbed him and threw the knife.” She was taken into custody without incident.
ALL SUSPECTS ARE PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY IN A COURT OF LAW.
