PRESS RELEASE OF INCIDENT THIS MORNING, 600 BLOCK OF VERNON STREET:
Police activity in the 600 block of Vernon Street resulted in the arrest of one township man and the confiscation of a firearm early this morning.
Thurman Julian Fortune, 30, was roused from sleep about 6 a.m. as members of the Central Delco Tactical Response Team and the Nether Providence Police Department arrived at his residence with a high-risk warrant for his arrest, which NPPD Chief David Splain said had been sought based on information provided to investigators.
Fortune was taken into custody without incident.
Charged with aggravated and simple assault, terroristic threats, strangulation, recklessly endangering another person and harassment, he is being held at the county prison on $100,000 cash bail.
Drug charges are pending as part of an ongoing investigation, Splain said.
