Traffic Stop Leads To Assault Weapon Arrest

On February 26, 2023 at 1:06 am, Officer Lawrence Hanna #240 conducted a vehicle stop in the area of Upland Avenue and 22nd Street.  Upon making contact with the two passengers, Officer Hanna observed, in plain view, an upright AR-15 rifle between the drivers and passengers seats directly behind the center console.  Hanna also located two spent cartridges on the floor of the vehicle.  Having information that neighboring Chester City Police had received numerous calls for shots fired in the area recently, Hanna and assisting officers removed the subjects from the vehicle and the weapon was seized.

Arrested as a result of the investigation was Jermaine Rollins, 21, of Upper Darby, PA.  Rollins was arraigned and posted bail set at 10% of $10,000.  A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 9, 2023 before MDJ Georgia Stone.
