The Upland Borough Police Department’s Bike Unit has become a common tool used in crime fighting and community policing. The bike patrol allows the officers to access  certain areas easier and quicker than on foot or by police vehicle. The  Upland Borough Police bikes are more then just a mode of transportation, and require each Bike Patrol Officer to attend a rigorous three-day police bike course through the International Police Mountain Bike Association (IPMBA)

UPD Bike Patrol Officers provide the same amount of law enforcement as an Officer in a patrol cruiser, however at times allows for quicker response time, and provides higher visibility. The patrol bikes are fully marked and equipped with special halogen lights, sirens and rear saddlebags for equipment relating to individual officers assignment.
