On Sunday March 7, 2021 at 00:00 Upland Police officers along with the Upland Fire Department, Brookhaven Fire Department and Crozer Health EMS were dispatched to the intersection of Upland Ave. at W 22nd St. Upland, Delaware County, PA 19015 for an accident with entrapment and vehicle overturned.
Officers arrived on location to find a 2 vehicle head on collision with one vehicle overturned onto the drivers side of the vehicle with the driver trapped inside. Upland and Brookhaven Fire Departments and Crozer Health EMS arrived on location and extricated the driver of the overturned vehicle. The driver stated that she was traveling South on Upland Ave. towards W 22nd St. when she was struck head on by the second vehicle which was traveling North in the Southbound lane. The driver was transported to the Crozer Health hospital for evaluation of injuries, which appeared minor. The vehicle sustained disabling damage from the accident and was removed from the roadway by Clayton Towing.
The second vehicle was facing South in the Southbound lanes after the impact from the accident spun his vehicle around. Contact was made with the driver/owner of the vehicle, who after an interview and standardized field sobriety testing, was placed into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. There was disabling damage to the vehicle and the vehicle was also removed from the roadway by Clayton Towing.
Upland Ave. was closed in all directions for approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.
