Please allow us to introduce the first ever, East Lansdowne Police K-9 Unit!
The creation of a Police K-9 Unit was authorized by vote of council in May of this year. At tonight's council meeting, K-9 Officer 'Bullet' was sworn in by Mayor Majovie (Joe) Bland.
K-9 Officer 'Bullet' is an 18 month old Yellow Labrador rescue dog specializing in the detection of firearms and munitions. Both Officer 'Bullet' and Sgt. Myers were trained and certified at Sector K9 Foundation in Texas. Special Thanks to Wesley Keeling of Sector K9 Foundation and Det. Rick Jones of Trainer Borough Police Department for all of their guidance and support.
Officer 'Bullet' and his handler will be pressed into service proactively detecting firearms in patrol operations and at crimes scenes.
"I am so proud of the universal support from our council members and of the hard work that Sgt. Myers and K-9 'Bullet' have put into the creation of this unit. I know that our combined efforts will increase the safety and security of this community." Chief Cadden.
