Department Overview

Darby Township is a first-class township with an estimated population of nearly 10,000 residents. It is home to residential areas and expansive industrial districts. The township is rather unique geographically in that it is made up of two non-contiguous areas, requiring one to pass through at least two neighboring municipalities to make it from one end of the township to the other.

The Darby Township Police Department is comprised of eighteen sworn officers. The department currently consists of three divisions, administration, investigations, and patrol. We have several officers that also participate in specialized county-wide units to include the Emergency Response Team, Major Incident Response Team, and the Delaware County Drug Task Force. Having members of our department assigned to these specialty units in addition to their normal duties with the Darby Township Police Department extends our resources and ability to serve our residents, business owners, and visitors.
