On Saturday, June 1, 2019, at approximately 3:03 AM, The Ridley Township Police received a report of a white male (wearing a black back pack & a hooded sweatshirt) rummaging through vehicles in multiple driveways. A witness attempted to confront the male who then fled into the woods in the vicinity of Francis Way (Milmont Park Section of Ridley Township).
Upon arrival, the witness went on to inform police that they observed the male (later identified as STEVEN ROWCROFT) enter and attempt to enter several vehicles. Assisting officers set up a perimeter where ROWCROFT was last spotted. K9 Officer Brian Judge accompanied by his K9 partner (ZORK) entered the wooded area in an attempt to locate the subject. ROWCROFT was detected in the 400 Block of Virgina Ave. ZORK apprehended ROWCROFT and was subsequently taken into custody.
ROWCROFT was positively identified by the witness. There were numerous stolen items on his person. Residents are reminded to lock their vehicles and call 911 to report any suspicious activity. Due to the fact that someone did just that, ROWCROFT was arrested. Also, the Camera Registry Form is up and running on our CRIMEWATCH page. By participating in this voluntary program, you are helping the Ridley Township Police Department swiftly locate nearby cameras that may be able to aide with active investigations and most importantly help deter crimes from occurring within your community. We appreciate the cooperation of everyone involved.
