On Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at 4:39 PM, Officer Nolan Cummings received a call in reference to a burglary in progress in the 200 Block of Haverford Rd in the Milmont Park Section of The Township. The caller described a white male wearing a black polo shirt with blue jeans as being the culprit. Upon arrival, Corporal Leo Doyle observed JAMES MONROE who matched the description provided.
MONROE clenched his fists and walked toward Corporal Doyle and declared, “Come on – let’s get it on!” Furthermore, MONROE inquired about the whereabouts of the Corporal’s firearm. MONROE then lunged toward Corporal Doyle’s holstered firearm and came within one to two feet of it. MONROE was subsequently taken into custody and unsuccessfully forcefully resisted throughout the entire arrest process.
Upon investigation, a victim advised that she was in her basement when MONROE entered via an unlocked door. MONROE claimed to be looking for “Jim”, he was advised that he was at the wrong residence. The victim’s pug “Frank” then attacked the uninvited guest’s leg. MONROE then fled the residence.
A neighbor heard the commotion and very smartly locked her front door prior to MONROE’s attempt to gain access to that residence as well. MONROE was transported to headquarters where Detective Tim Kearney prepared the criminal complaint and charged MONROE accordingly.
