On Saturday, April 13, 2019, at 2201 hours, the Ridley Township Police Department received a report of a theft discovered in the 2900 Block of Wakefield Drive. Upon arrival, the homeowners advised that they had hired a construction company to work at their residence. They had left a door unlocked so the employees could utilize the restroom if necessary. When the homeowners returned later, fresh boots prints were observed on the steps which lead upstairs. The homeowners followed the foot prints upstairs into their bedroom and discovered the jewelry box open. Numerous items of jewelry, currency and credit cards were ultimately determined missing from the residence.
Ridley Township Detectives received information that DANIEL CAMPANELLA was one of two employees performing masonry work at the time of the theft. Upon further investigation, detectives ascertained that CAMPANELLA is attempting to sell the stolen items. A meeting was then arranged for CAMPANELLA to meet with a potential buyer. Upon CAMPANELLA’S arrival, to meet with the potential buyer, he was taken into custody. In CAMPANELLA’S possession were numerous stolen merchandise items that were positively identified by the victims. Missing from the stolen merchandise was a gold necklace with an Italian horn as well as numerous coins. CAMPANELLA was charged accordingly.
