INCIDENT BLOTTER MAY 15-28

On Friday, May 15 at 6:33 PM, Officers responded to the 100 block of Third Avenue for a neighbor dispute/disturbance in the area.  Officers separated the parties involved and subsequently identified a 25-year-old resident of Third Ave as being intoxicated and being responsible for the disturbance.  A citation for public drunkenness was issued. 


On Tuesday, May 19 at 1:00 AM, Officer Jerome Duncan initiated a vehicle stop in the 700 block of West Sproul Road after observing equipment violations on the vehicle.  Officer Duncan immediately smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle and marijuana was subsequently recovered from the occupants of the car.  The 2 female occupants, 21 and 19 years old from Upper Darby, were released pending charges. 


On Wednesday, May 27th at 6:29 PM, Officer Ray Stiles responded to a vehicle accident in the 100 block of Lori Lane.  In investigating the accident, Officer Stiles determined that the driver of the striking vehicle was possibly under the influence of drugs at the time of the accident.  Field sobriety tests were conducted and blood results are pending.  Heroin/fentanyl and drug paraphernalia were recovered from the driver and the driver, a 42 year old male from Clifton Heights was driving with a suspended license.  Charges are pending. 


On Thursday, May 28 at 6:52 PM, Officer Austin Gallagher was dispatched to Royal Farms, 2130 West Chester Pike, after a person was observed stealing a 15 pack of Keystone Light.  The shoplifter, a 37-year-old male from Newtown Square, left the store in his vehicle that was registered in his name.  He was subsequently identified and will be charged with his second retail theft, a misdemeanor.  


 During the past week, Marple Police responded to multiple businesses reporting overnight thefts of catalytic converters from box trucks and vans in the Industrial Park.  This is a current trend that other municipalities are also experiencing.  Marple Police Detectives are investigating the thefts.
