During the months of May, June, and July of 2021, several retail thefts were committed at 2180 West Chester Pike (Giant) and 1991 S. Sproul Road (ACME), by the same white female. On July 1, 2021, Marple Police received a call that the suspect committing the thefts was currently at the Giant on West Chester Pike. Officers responded to the Giant and made contact with Hayley Holden, who upon seeing officers, discarded over $200 worth of unpaid merchandise from her person. Holden was placed under arrest and a subsequent search revealed drug paraphernalia on her person.
Outside the store, Officers made contact with Brandon Rhoades, seated in the driver’s seat of Holden’s vehicle. Upon making contact with Rhoades, Officers observed drug paraphernalia in plain view, inside the vehicle. After being placed under arrest, Rhoades provided false identifying information to officers, regarding who he was. A subsequent search by Detective Ronsvalle, confirmed Rhoades’ true identity.
Holden was charged with multiple counts of retail theft and related charges after it was confirmed she was the suspect who stole approximately $1,500 worth of merchandise from both ACME and Giant. Rhoades was charged with false identification to law enforcement and drug charges.
