On Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at approximately 21:46 hours, Officer Gallagher conducted a vehicle stop on a Chevrolet Impala for operating with an expired registration plate. Upon making contact with the operator, identified as Vermont Bonaparte, and a female passenger, Officer Gallagher detected an odor of marijuana stemming from within the vehicle, and observed Bonaparte to be sluggish and moving lethargically when retrieving required documents. Bonaparte was asked to exit the vehicle at which time Officer Gallagher observed Bonaparte to have bloodshot eyes and detected an odor of marijuana coming from Bonaparte’s person. Bonaparte conducted a series of Field Sobriety Tests, during which he showed signs of impairment. A subsequent search of the vehicle recovered drugs and drug paraphernalia, which Bonaparte took ownership of. A check of Bonaparte’s driving record showed Bonaparte’s driver’s license to be suspended, DUI-Related.
Bonaparte was charged with DUI, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and associated summary vehicle code violations.
