Accident Investigation Leads to Drug and Gun Arrest

On Thursday, December 22, 2022 at approximately 2:42pm, Darby Township Police were dispatched to the 600 block of Sharon Avenue for a two-vehicle accident. Upon arrival, the responding officer made contact with the driver of a white 2014 Ford Fusion bearing Pennsylvania registration LWK-3498. The driver identified himself as Justin Williams. While speaking with Williams, the responding officer noted that Williams displayed pinpoint pupils, slurred speech, and had a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from his person. Also while speaking with Williams, a zip lock baggie containing a green leafy vegetable matter (suspected marijuana) was protruding from the Williams hoodie pocket. The officer had asked Williams if he had any narcotics or used any narcotics. Williams stated, "I was smoking earlier and I have some weed on me." Williams then handed the officer a clear zip lock baggie containing a green leafy vegetable-like matter (suspected marijuana). Williams was later placed into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

During a search incident to arrest, the officer located a clear zip lock baggie containing a white chunky rock-like substance (suspected crack cocaine) inside of the defendant's right pan pocket. Also located inside his right pant pocket was a black digital scale and two (2) Apple i-Phones. From Williams left pant pocket, the officer recovered a total amount of $2,380 dollars in US currency. Also located in Williams left pant pocket was a black zip lock baggie labeled "GAS LANE CUMB" which contained a green leafy vegetable-like matter (suspected marijuana).

A search warrant was later executed on Williams vehicle. As a result of the execution of that search warrant, the officer recovered a firearm along with a large quantity of crack-cocaine and marijuana. Additionally, twenty-five (25) packs of suspected suboxone were recovered from the vehicle. A query of Williams criminal history determined that Williams is deemed a person not to possess a firearm within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

As a result, Williams was criminally charged with firearms and drug-related offenses.

Williams was later arraigned on these charges by the Honorable District Judge Roberts and bail was set at $200,000.00. Williams was transported to the George W. Hill Correctional Facility and is awaiting his preliminary hearing.
