On Tuesday, November 15, 2022, a Darby Township Police Officer assigned to the Patrol Division was monitoring traffic in the area of Calcon Hook Road and Hook Road around 12:04pm. While there, the officer observed a 2017 Silver Dodge Charger bearing Pennsylvania registration KZP-6501 travelling eastbound on Hook Road with expired inspection stickers displayed on the windshield. As a result of the traffic violation observed, the officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. Upon making contact with the driver (identified as Dwayne Leslie) the officer detected an odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. As a result, Leslie was requested by the officer to step out of the vehicle. Upon Leslie stepping out of the vehicle, the officer further observed something in Leslie’s waistband. The officer then conducted a pat down of Leslie for officer safety. During this pat down, Leslie admitted that he had marijuana on his person which the officer located and seized. Upon executing a consent search of the vehicle, the officer located a black Smith & Wesson M&P 9 shield .9mm semi auto handgun, serial #HWA9940 (which contained seven (7) live hollow point rounds of ammunition in the magazine and one (1) live hollow point round of ammunition in the chamber) under the driver's seat. Also located between the driver’s seat and center console was a black Smith & Wesson M&P 9 shield EZ .9mm semi auto handgun, Serial #RHB7688, which contained eight (8) live hollow point rounds of ammunition in the magazine. Additionally, the officer recovered two (2) license to carry permits issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to two (2) other persons. Leslie does not possess a license to carry a firearm within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Leslie was arraigned on these charges by the Honorable District Judge D. Griffin. Leslie’s bail was set at 10% of $50,000. As a result of not posting bail, Leslie was transported to the George W. Hill Correctional Facility where he will await his preliminary hearing.
