Child Safety Alert: Wear Helmets, Save Lives!

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), helmets are 85-90% effective in reducing head injuries and 55-60% effective in preventing fatalities. Yet, many children still ride bicycles, scooters, or skateboards without proper headgear.

As a community, we can work together to prevent avoidable injuries and tragedies. Here are some essential tips to ensure your child's safety:

• Always wear a helmet that fits snugly and is certified by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
• Supervise your child when they're engaging in wheeled activities, especially if they're under 10 years old.
• Teach your child to follow traffic rules and ride defensively.
• Set a good example by wearing a helmet yourself!
